Coraway Defense Force

The Coraway Defense Force is a dual-branched military unit which defends the Kingdom of Coraway from nonmagical foreign threats. Should magical expertise be needed, its ranks are augmented by magical experts hired on by the Gilded Crown, but it is otherwise a mundane organization.

Description

As of 126 LE, the Coraway Defense Force is lead by General Iyas Rhozali, a distant relation of House Khammar. The terrestrial and naval forces which comprise the Defense Force have a total of roughly 25,000 members combined. There is no official force of spellcasters in the military, though the occasional spellcaster may be found within their ranks.

Members

All able-bodied members of Coraway's common folk (which includes anyone in the lower economic brackets of society) are required by law to apply for military service at the age of 18, although not all are active members of the Defense Force at all times. A comparatively small number of soldiers are actually prepared to be mobilized in the event of war, though all applicants are expected to show for a six-month training period once every three years.

History

Founding of Coraway

Shortly after the founding of Coraway in 1 LE, the Gilded Crown outlined the legal obligations of citizens in their new nation. These obligations included military service and training. The first members of the Defense Force were combatants during the Discordant Rebellions, who passed their knowledge of battle on to their successors.

Note: The titles and names of the Kingdom of Coraway are often derived from what little memory the humans of Thesilae have of their ancient languages. Thus there is a mixture of Arabic, Catalan, Spanish, and words from other Afroasiatic or romance language used, some of which have been unknowingly mistranslated by Corrans
