United Defence Forces of Luria

The United Defence Forces of Luria are the official military of the Kingdom of Luria, comprised of terrestrial, naval, and magical forces from across the nation.

Description

As of 126 LE, the United Defence Forces of Luria are led by King Crespin Luria, the current ruler of the Kingdom of Luria. The forces themselves are comprised of three branches: a terrestrial force, a naval force, and a small force of elite spellcasters. Of the three branches, the Lurian navy is the strongest and most well-funded, and has a reputation for being the most powerful of all the navies of Eloqua.

Members

Any able-bodied Lurian aged 20 years or older is permitted to apply for military service, should they so chose. Thanks to the Kingdom of Luria's proud military history, there is no shortage of new applicants each year. However, every applicant must undergo rigerous training and pass several physical and mental tests before they are granted membership into any of the Defence Force's three branches. It is not uncommon for members of the Defence Force to have parents and grandparents who were also members of the military, since military service in Luria is just as likely to be generational as being a member of the nobility is.

History

The Discordant Rebellions

The United Defence Forces had their start as a rebel force during the Discordant Rebellions. Under the banner of the founding members of House Luria, (Marie-Justine and Florian Edouard Luria), the rebels helped to overthrow the oppressive Psionic Scourge and free the mortal peoples of Thesilae.

Note: The titles and names of the Kingdom of Luria are often derived from what little memory the humans of Thesilae have of their ancient languages. Thus there is a mixture of English, French, and Scots words used, some of which have been unknowingly mistranslated by Lurians.
