Feron (Fair-On)

Introduction:

Feron is a small mining town in east Targhed. Feron is known for its iron mine and the hard-working people who mine the ore from it. Feron was once governed by a miners union but has since been placed under the rule of a dwarven bannerman loyal to the ruling Orc Nobles of Targhed.

Demographics:

Feron is mainly inhabited by Orcs and Half-Orcs. There are a minority of Humans, Halflings, Sea Dwarves, and Leonin.

Government:

From its founding Feron was governed by a Union of Miners. The miners banded together to purchase the rights to the mine from its original owner. Those miners then founded Feron and selected leaders from amongst their ranks. This system of government was abolished in the past year. The ruling Orc Noble, Lady Shagra Balleas, has instilled her Bannerman, Yori Foamaxe, as the governor of Feron. Lady Balleas claims this is a temporary measure to ensure iron production is maintained in order to battle pirate threats from Exgilios.

Defenses:

Only the mine has defenses, the rest of Feron is an open village. The mine is protected by a wooden palisades and locked iron gate to prevent monsters and thieves from entering the mines.

Industry & Trade:

The primary industry in Feron is mining and they predominantly trade iron ore. There are other businesses in the village but they are small and cater primarily to the people of Feron. It is uncommon for people to visit Feron.

Religion:

The people of Feron primarily worship Luthic. The people pray to the Cave Mother to keep the mines stocked with ore and to protect the miners from cave ins and other disasters. There has always been a priestess of Luthic in Feron, and Feron is noted for producing two Orog for the Proving Grounds in the last generation. The Priestess of Luthic is responsible for administering the unique funerary proceedings in Feron where the priestess casts Speak with Dead on the deceased and asks the five following questions;
  • What is your name?
  • What was your occupation?
  • Who are your family?
  • What do you want to say?
  • Is there anything else?
  This ceremony is conducted in the center of the village and is often a major event for the village.
