Dancer Rules: Praying to the Icons

Game rules

Checking on the Coriolis Discord, I read that the publishers are OK with players recreating tables, figures and data from the RPG source material where the only purpose is the facilitation of playing their game and I hereby promise this is my only intent with this article. Here I've taken the Year Zero Engine to modify the Coriolis rules for my own games - Doctor Weather
To see what my guiding principles are for my rules changes, please see the Dancer Rules overview.

Preparatory prayer

Aim: to reduce bookkeeping - players no longer need to look up which skill is for which Icon, they just improvise around the Icons' spheres of influence that will be easier to remember, especially if I'm getting Icons into the background of the game as often as I feel I should to properly bring the Horizon culture alive   Pray to a specific Icon beforehand
Reroll your dice with a +1 bonus where that Icon's influence affects your current action. This is available throughout the next adventure or until the PC prays again. The bonus becomes +2 if the prayer is made in a chapel or at a shrine dedicated to that Icon.   Pray to an Icon for specific help
Players can also gain +2 on the reroll without praying in a chapel if they name a specific circumstance in which they want the Icon's help but they need to be specific: it can't just be 'in combat' or 'in trade deals', it needs to be as specific as 'when a deal goes wrong'. This is available throughout the next adventure or until the PC prays again. They also still get the +1 dice from that Icon outside the specific circumstance.   Pray to all the Icons beforehand
Gain a one-time reroll of your dice with a +1 bonus or +2 if the prayer is made in a chapel. The bonus is available until used or the PC prays again. This is really just for players who can't decide which Icon they want to pray to but nonetheless don't want to miss out completely.   JUMP TO CONTENTS
