Ale House Inn

Purpose / Function

The largest inn in the city of Cyell. There are 18 large rooms, and more beds available in the stables and on the third floor (if needed). Servants and help live on the third floor or in the cellars. The main floor is primarily the "great room" where meals are served from sunrise till the food is gone.   Room and board is a crown (5s), a bath is another shilling (1s). Meals include:   Roast beef, pork, fowl and game   Stews and soups   Fresh bread, aged cheese, seasonal fruits   Ale, cider, wine and a popular hot tea made from roast nuts

Architecture

A timber-framed three-story building just inside of the River Gate and close to the Lists.  It has a slate roof, glassed windows on the upper floors (shutters at ground level).  There is a stone kitchen in the back, next to a large stone bathhouse.  The stables are along the north alley and can accommodate as many as 7 large horses.
