Barony Court
The palace at Barony Court is the primary residence and seat of authority for the Grand Baron, Maklin am Maxalli. It is a massive, sprawling complex of towers, halls, courtyards and houses covering nearly 10 acres of ground.
The tallest buildings in the palace are more than six stories high, and most are built of locally produced bricks that give the regional architecture its distinct reddish color. The palace was built with a focus on impressing the visitor with its size and oppulence, and with very little consideration for defense. Windows are large, glazed and mostly unshuttered. Doorways and gates are latticed rather than solid to allow in light and air.
There are dozens of bedrooms, five fully-staffed kitchens, a small town's worth of stores and food stuffs, stables, shops and staff for as many as 100 guests. Tapestries, guilded furniture and decorations, carpets and rugs, silk drapes, polished panelling, tiled floors, and elaborately carved doors show those visiting the palace just how wealthy and powerful the Grand Baron is.
