Maklin am Maxalli
His Grace, Grand Baron Maklin am Maxalli
Maklin am Maxalli is the Grand Baron of Wessridge and the ranking member of the baronial branch of the Royal House of Maxalli. He is the fourth Grand Baron to rule Wessridge. He is an immensely wealthy and influential member of the nobility at the royal court at Northridge and is a (very) distant cousin to the High King himself, Max III.
Wealth and influence aside, the Grand Baron is not a popular man. His policies within the barony are heavy-handed and very restrictive while his efforts outside the barony and even internationally are seens as disruptive, unproductive and very costly. He is married to Goditha Mollus, a daughter of the former Baron of Minsloth, who detests him and does not even live in the same building as he does. He has two legitimate children, Makron am Maxalli and Marion Maxalli, neither of whom will have anything to do with him unless they absolutely must. He has several mistresses and many illegitimate children that he supports and keeps close to his new residence at Barony Court in the City of Wessridge.
Maklin's noble peers dismiss him as either a lecherous deviant or a conceited fop with delusions of greatness. His subjects grumble and complain, openly and loudly, about his high taxes and harsh judgements. His children have no respect for him at all. His wife, were she sober enough to voice it, wishes him dead on a daily basis. His mistresses squeeze his purse for every ounce of gold they can get or ignore him utterly.

Short, fat, sweats profusely, prone to bouts of illness. His dark hair has receeded and is typically uncombed and unwashed most of the time. He is prone to stutter when he is angry or upset, and has infamously bad breath.

Representation & Legacy
Since the mysterious death of his father, Maxar am Maxalli, rumors have run that either Turl am Nari had the old Baron poisoned, or Maklin did at Hekmo's direction. It is no secret that Maklin was firmly in the Hekmo faction leading up to the Second Northern War and that his father's refusal to participate or support the Hekmo effort was a source of much contention between the two of them. No evidence has ever been found to prove that Maxar had been poisoned, but rumors are far more efficient than facts at lasting the test of time.
