Briarshome

Briarshome is the name of the Stronghold built by Jon Fenward, the current Briar of Marlowe. The stronghold, a four-story tower house built on the bluffs outside of the Town of Fenway, is the Briar's residence and seat of office. He also has a sizable tract of land and river that lead to a series of spring-fed ponds where he farms eels.

Purpose / Function

The residence and office of the Briar of Marlowe, Jon Fenward

Alterations

The estate of Brairshome is large, with more than 480 acres of reasonably dry land and nearly a full mile of river frontage that could, given just a little work and money, be navigable all the way to Dunrick.  It is one this estate that the Briar has encouraged a small village of Halflings to settle and help him run a large and nearly profitable eel farm.  The village is called Elrick, and nearly everyone there works the ponds raising and harvesting the much sought after eels.

Architecture

A simple but stoutly-built tower house standing 48' high with a large and heavily barred oak door and narrow windows shuttered from the inside.  It is made of imported white sandstone and incorporates many fine features, including chimneys and roofed turrets, as well as very effective crenellations and machicolations that make the storming of the stronghold a difficult prospect.

Defenses

Body-length crenellations along the top of the tower, and a complete series of machicolations that can utilize numerous items and substances to thwart a frontal attack on the stronghold, including stones, boiling oil and quicklime (all of which are currently stockpiled in the tower).
