Lord Mayor
Within the Kingdom of Cobal, a Mayor is the primary leader and administrator of a City or Town that is not associated with a Shire or County. Sometimes referred to as "independent", towns and cities that are not included in a shire or county can either elect someone as a mayorial candidate and have that choice approved by the Warden, or the Warden can simply appoint someone they feel is best suited to the role themselves.
Most Mayors carry similar responsibilities and expectations as a sheriff of a shire or county, especially if the city in question is a large one. Appointments to the office of Lord Mayor are typically either for life, or until the Warden chooses to remove the Mayor and appoint another instead.
Responsibilities
Mayor's administer justice, administrate affairs and accounts, oversee construction and infrastructure and if the need arises, organize defenses.
