Wolfwick
Purpose / Function
Wolfwick is the Capital of Ustya and holds the throne to the nation. It also serves as the central point of trade and commerce within the country. Chosen for its prime location along the coast, with excellent access to trade routes from Ustya, Estrya, Westaria and Tidallis. The last and possibly most important reason for its existence is for diplomacy both within Ustya and with other nations and realms.
Architecture
From the smallest to largest building within Wolfwick, its wealth is evident. Every structure is made from the most elegant stonework, beautifully carved by the most skilled stonemasons in Ustya. The Palace located on the north side of the city is a sight to behold, decorated with brilliant gemstones and expert stonework, with gold and platinum curtains hanging from each of its windows. The streets of the city are immaculate and made of polished marble that fits together perfectly.
Defenses
The city sits on the waterfront and has a naval force that rivals most nations. It also has a large section of layered walls surrounding its exterior with guards and many battlements atop its sections. There is also an anti-magic field that surrounds the city walls stopping all means of magical siege upon the city. Out in the marina there are numerous towers that serve as both an early warning system and a first line of defense against a naval invasion.
The army within Wolfwick, known as the Diamond Legion, is both expertly skilled in combat and large enough to deter would be attackers just in numbers alone. Couple this with the Wolfwick School of Magic which is the premier school for the arcane arts in Ustya, and you have a combination that would require a full scale assault in order to even stand a chance at toppling.
History
Ordered for construction by King Frederick Arthur Giradin I, the city of Wolfwick was built on ancient druidic lands. They forced the druids from their home within the forest surrounding the coast and demolished the forest to supply materials for the building of the Capital city. The druids tried to fight back but were slaughtered by the King's forces. This would later come back to haunt them as the Resurrected Demi-God Serale laid siege to the capital and sought vengeance on the Kings descendant, taking a hand and a powerful magic seal for penance.
The city quickly became a point of interest for the surrounding nations as its opulence was heralded. This ensured that trade quickly became prominent in the capital and further fueled its expansion and display of wealth.
Tourism
All of the major festivals on the Timeurian calendar have extravagant displays and multi day gatherings in the capital. This coupled with the trade of the most rare and exotic items within the walls of Wolfwick have earned it the nickname "The Diamond of the East." Every year countless travelers flock to see the city and its beauty and splendor.
