Cheochu

Cheochu is a peninsula right below the Deathlands, strangely unaffected by the northern territories dread reputation. The Cheochu peninsula is marked with a large and tall mountain range that runs down the middle of the landmass called The Spine. Legends tell that the spine is the corpse, or sometimes rock covered sleeping body, of a massive elder dragon. It is said that there didn't used to be mountains that separated the peninsula from the northern territories but that the spine split apart when dark magic washed across the lands, protecting the Cheochu people from the cursed magic. These people are hardy but not very populous and are in constant conflict with Vershen, a country to the west that sometimes raids their lands for the dead they inter in large ornate crypts built into The Spine.

Fauna & Flora

Shadowclaw Sentinel     The Shadowclaw Sentinel is a fierce and cunning predator that roams the mountainous regions of Cheochu. This nocturnal creature is a mix of feline agility and avian keenness, with sleek black fur and piercing amber eyes. Its most distinctive feature is its razor-sharp claws, which seem to shimmer with a shadowy aura. The Shadowclaw Sentinel acts as a natural guardian of the Cheochu lands, possessing a heightened sense of territoriality and protecting the Cheochu people from intruders, including raiding parties from Vershen. Legends among the Cheochu speak of a mythical bond between the Shadowclaw Sentinels and the ancient dragon believed to be slumbering within The Spine, suggesting that these creatures are the dragon's loyal sentries.   Everbloom Blossom   The Cheochu peninsula is home to a unique plant known as the Everbloom Blossom. Despite the harsh and unforgiving terrain of The Spine mountain range, these flowers manage to flourish in the crevices and rocky slopes. The Everbloom Blossom is characterized by its vibrant and radiant petals that come in a variety of colors, ranging from deep purples to fiery oranges. What makes this plant truly remarkable is its ability to bloom throughout the year, regardless of the season or weather conditions. It is believed that the magical properties of the Everbloom Blossom are linked to the ancient dragon's presence within The Spine, imbuing the flowers with resilience and eternal vitality. The Cheochu people hold the Everbloom Blossom in high regard, seeing it as a symbol of endurance and rebirth.
