Archmagister

The ruler of the Magocracy of Valorast was traditionally known as an Archmagister, though the somewhat tongue-in-cheek "Highest Mage" was also used. The Archmagister was head of the Magocratic Council, and directly ruled its capital of Wizardhome.
Unlike the equivalent titles of the other nations of the Dungeonscape, the title of Archmagister was not hereditary; instead, it was awarded to the strongest of the High Mages, and whoever could wrest control of the Mythallar.
