Queen-General Hilda Mithrilspear, the Damned
Queen-General Hilda Mithrilspear, also known as Hilda the Damned, was General of Tiriande's armies during the Tiriande-Valoran War, Queen-Consort to Adriella the Good, and Regent of Tiriande after Adriella's death.
Hilda was nobody’s choice for queen; though beautiful and righteous, she was stiff and unyielding, and had none of the grace or thoughtfulness of her late wife. Already advanced in years due to her human heritage, she takes her wife’s death hard and grows ever more dour.
She does not remarry.
Hilda's reign is ruthless and firm. She takes a hard stance against the support of Valoran refugees and quashes a goblinoid uprising. After personally defeating an assassin in her own bedchambers, Hilda announced that the assassination was a Maressean plot and announces the formal dissolution of the nation of Maressea. The bloody coup that follows is named Mithrilspear's Coup. Trust in the royal family falls to an all-time low, as many feel the queen-regent's action betrayed everything her wife believed in.
Dowager Queen Hilda Mithrilspear died age 94 in a duel, insisting to the last that she can fight her own battles. Her killer, the youngest son of a Maressean noble house who challenged her to take revenge on his family’s death in the Tiriandan coup, was hanged for his crimes.
