Queen Adriella Tiriande, the Good
Queen Adriella Tiriande, also known as Adriella the Good, was Queen of Tiriande succeeding the death of her grandfather Adhelm.
Adriella was a young woman of little stature and marked infirmity, and early after her coronation many disagreed with the choice. She had, however, an incredible force of personality and a voice people found themselves almost supernaturally compelled to listen to. Her position was strengthened by her status as a symbol of unity between Tiriande and Maressea.
As the daughter of a diplomat, Adriella took the throne with high hopes of fostering peace between the three nations of the Dungeonscape. These hopes were dashed when, only a year after her coronation, the nation of Valorast attacks her childhood home of Maressea. The young queen is forced to come to Maressea's aid.
Adriella left military affairs to her wife, the human general Hilda Mithrilspear, whose military expertise proves key in ensuring the war is not lost entirely.
Fortunes turn when Adriella sponsors a series of groups of adventurers to find new routes to Valorast’s domain and infiltrate it; they find that Aenelm Valorast, the King of the nation, has discovered a powerful artefact within the catacomb-dungeon the nation is founded in, and has used it to transform himself and his court into liches. The adventurers cooperate with the joint Tiriande-Maressean military to end the war. At their return, she founds the Adventurers’ Guild of Tiriande, and puts the adventurer who slew Aenelm, a halfling called Pippal, at its head.
Despite spending the majority of her reign forced to oversee the most brutal and destructive war the nation had witnessed so far, Adriella is remembered mostly for her efforts in expanding the rights of the common folk and providing the right to form trade guilds to all.
Adriella diedduring a public audience with the foremost members of the city's trade guilds. as a skeletal figure appears and deals a fatal blow to the monarch before getting skewered by her wife's spear. According to reports from those present, the shade spoke with the voice of the late king of Valorast.
