The Tranquil Depths

The Tranquil Depths is the name given to the large inland sea occupying the southeastern border of Tiriande's Foundation Level. It is fed by three rivers and straddles the city's center.

An island on its western shores is host to the Royal University and its surrounding city district. On its eastern shore a second, much smaller island lies shrouded in foggy marshlands known as the Ghostreeds.

The seafloor is host to several of the city's aquatic districts, populated primarily by mermen and aquatic elves.

On its southeastern shores, an enormous and ever-present whirlpool known colloquially as Zoren's Pucker has swirled since time immemorial.

The various dockside districts of the Depths were once vibrant centers of trade, as ships set forth to haul goods along the rivers to other towns and nations in the Dungeonscape. With the rest of the nation lost to the Vent, they have since fallen into disrepair.
