Adamantine
Adamantine is a very rare, ultra-hard metal found and prized by mining Dwarves. It is a dark metallic material with a slightly greenish sheen. It is notoriously difficult to locate and mine, and even more difficult to work with, but the weapons it proposes are among the most valuable in the world, as they take magic very well, never dull, and cut through even some of the hardest enchanted hides of monsters. As a result, many look past its fairly mundane appearance in favor of its incredible sturdiness.
According to legend, Cassada Fivebraids spotted strange green lights over the Everfrost Mountains. Leading the dwarves into these mountains, she delved deep, eventually finding the first veins of adamantine. The tunnels they mined eventually flowed with gold and gems due to the legendary metalcraft of the dwarves and became the city of Balgondelve.
Darberik Fivebraids, her distant descendant, set out with a group of sailors and dwarves for the Desolation of Azmartheon. Tales of eerie lights above the desert had convinced him that adamantine might be discovered there, and he staked his small personal fortune on the expedition. His gamble proved well-founded, and he has taken over an abandoned Duergar city, renaming it Dammunheim and mining the rich adamantine within.
