Angtharius

 

Angtharius, also called the Iron Protector, is a longsword with a very heavy crossguard. The sword is enchanted with various enhancements that make it strike harder and more accurately, but it also bestows protection on the one who carries it into the fray, thus giving it his name.

Angtharius was the sword of Baron Faelwyr Greenfields, and, after the fall of Hallowir's Watch, went to his cousin Kevanra Greenfields. Since she preferred the spear, the sword was relegated to the baronial treasury, and it remained unused for nearly 300 years.

In 1078 SKR, Baron Kadran Greenfields gave the sword to the Fire Wasps as a reward for returning an ancient battle-standard of his family. Kidalis Havengard claimed the blade and bore it to battle, even to his dying day. His friends returned it to the Baron, along with the sad news of his passing. When Kidalis returned temporarily at the Battle of Worldbreaker's Howe, he carried the sword once more.
