Dao

Dao are a race of Elemental beings tied to earth and stone who hail from the Elemental Chaos. Although they were independent of the Primordials, the dao threw their lot in with them during the Dawn War. This decision has cost them greatly. The Gods have imprisoned many of them, sealing some of the most powerful and willful dao in inanimate objects and binding them to serve whoever finds such an item.
Dao tend to be greedy and grasping, and they are drawn to the same things that mortals find of value, such as gold, silver, and gems. They are considered lesser beings by their cousins, the Efreeti, the Djinni, and the Marids. Although they may be lesser in power and more base in desires, but dao are fearsome entities nonetheless and should not be trifled with by most of those who dwell in Tol.
