Greyhawk Mummers

The Greyhawk Mummers are a theatrical group from the Free City of Greyhawk. They are famous for their plays and pantomimes. They attracted the attention of Endelyn Moongrave, the Hag ruler of the splinter-realm of Yon, who invited them to her castle of Motherhorn as guests. They became so haughty after a time, however, that she become quite vexed by them. She imprisoned them, ignoring their pleas for release. When she did finally let them free, she transformed them all into Perytons. Despite this, however, they didn't become ravenining beasts. Instead of murder and cannibalism, they mostly seem disposed towards mean-spirited pranks. They vexed Prince Alagarthas at the Fey Beacons for some time until the Witchlight Court came to his aid. Ultimately, they "Defeated" the Mummers by providing them with an appreciative audience. Having gotten the attention they desired, they flew off, and their ultimate fate remains unsure.
The current roster of the Mummers consists of the leading male player, Archillus; the leading female player, Mortia; Verna, Mortia's bitter understudy; Mauldower, the old professional who thinks the others are amateurs (but whose arrogance and temper make him unemployable otherwise Angara, the troupe's matriach and mother hen; Gorgonel, a jester with a foul-mouthed sense of humor; Cathasar, a classically trained method actor; and Thornelia, the troupe's minstrel.
