Gryphon Hills

 

The Gryphon Hills are a series of heavily forested rises to the east of the city of Gwyllan's Watch in southern Tavanion. The area had, for many years, been a thin place between Tol and the Feywild. Long ago, Gryphons from the Feywild emigrated to Tol and became creatures more natural to the material plane. When the Eladrin first arrived, they were delighted to find a familiar species from the Feywild having gone native and saw them as symbols of their own situation. They began catching and training them (they would never say taming), leading to the Gryphon being the symbol of Tavanion. The Gryphon Cavalry of Gwyllan’s Watch is renowned for their battle prowess, and, the last ruler of Tavanion, Prince Belerion ap Kadishai, was known for his excellent skills as a gryphon rider.

Wild gryphons still nest in the Gryphon Hills, making it a dangerous place to travel without an experienced guide.
