Road's End

 

After the fall of Hallowir's Watch at the end of the Second Witching War, a new baronial castle was constructed to the west of the Silver Rush river. This castle, Road’s End, was built at the end of the great road that ran from Estwald in the east of Summerlund to the border of Faerinwold. This was deemed more strategically advantageous, as the Foulweed Fens had made the land northeast of Seowyn's Crossing swampy and unusable for building fortifications. Coupled with the rising influence of the Feywild in the forest of Neldorin to the west, Road’s End became a natural place for a new construction.

Once completed, Road’s End became the seat of power for the Lord Baron of Silver Falls. It is a well-maintained fort with a garrison, and Lord Baron Kadran Greenfields and his family occupy the main keep, along with the servants and soldiers. Due to the decline of support from the King of Summerlund, and the spite of the Duchess of Osterlund, however, the garrison maintained there now is much smaller than necessary to defend the place, and the castle feels somewhat empty.
