Tortle

Tortles are a race of creatures that hail from the swamps of northern Golognoth. They greatly resemble humanoid tortoises, including possessing large shells on their backs. They are often nomadic, rarely feeling homesick, thanks to the security of having their home with them wherever they go. Groups of tortles tend to make villages of mud huts, each loosely governed by the oldest member of the community, whom they address as Eldest. They possess great curiosity and a fierce loyalty to clutchmates, clans, and non-tortle friends they make along the way.
Tortles rarely worship the Gods, preferring instead to venerate the Primal Spirits. Often, the Eldest is blessed by the spirits with the gifts of a Druid. They have the extraordinary ability to access what they call the Roots of the World – powerful ancestral memories. They are close allies to the Aeotaens with whom they trade and exchange knowledge and stories.
