History

The Orrin Empire is embroiled in its own power struggle. After the emperor dies from food poisoning in 2833 BD, his firstborn, Alexander, husband of Catherine, ascends the throne. However, with the ongoing War of White Gold, Alexander seeks the help of the Golden Five and embarks on a quest to find the Council of Dragons. Seizing this opportunity, his younger brother Ambroise spreads false news of Alexander's death and claims the throne for himself.   Ambroise, now emperor, hosts a grand ball to celebrate his ascension. However, a guest is murdered during the event. Siblings, Harald Olvason and Esther Olvadottir, are summoned by Emperor Ambroise, who confronts them about their involvement in the murder. As they defend themselves, Catherine intervenes, the widow of the supposedly deceased Emperor Alexander. Thanks to her intervention, the siblings avoid execution but are tasked with killing a monstrous beast that has plagued the empire.   Before they leave, Catherine reveals that Alexander is still alive, and Ambroise’s claim to the throne is based on lies. After completing their quest, the siblings return as heroes, much to Ambroise’s surprise. Despite this victory, they discover Hakon, their brother, imprisoned in the empire’s dungeons. Harald’s plea to Ambroise for Hakon’s release is denied, leading to a confrontation that ends with the siblings imprisoned.   Leonardo Troubleback, a friend of the siblings and Catherine attempt to negotiate their release, but only Esther is freed, thanks to Catherine's efforts. Catherine and Esther escape the empire, setting out to find Alexander. Leonardo, using his network, directs them to the Frosthold Mountains, where Alexander was last seen. Along the way, they encounter Azalea, a Fairy falsely accused of spying. Esther rescues her, adding another companion to their quest.   As they journey through war-torn lands, the group eventually reaches the Golden Five. Alexander, who had been seeking the dragons’ aid to win the war, reunites with Catherine. However, his desire to return home and bring peace shifts his focus. Meanwhile, Ambroise learns of Esther’s royal lineage and intensifies his efforts to capture her and silence the truth about his usurpation.   Esther now has to confront her brother Harald, who turned evil due to the influence of a Dao and to accept her role as the heir of Whiteshore.   With Harald’s death, Alexander returns to the empire, reclaims his throne, and has Ambroise executed for treason. Esther, now queen of Whiteshore, forges a fragile peace between the Orrin Empire and her kingdom.   A marriage between Esther’s child and Catherine’s, symbolizing the alliance between the Orrin Empire and the Kingdom of Whiteshore strengthen the bond between the two realm later on.
