Golden Five

The Golden Five was a council of powerful metallic dragons that held great influence over the affairs of Toriel. Comprised of gold, silver, bronze, copper, and brass dragons, the council was known for its wisdom and knowledge. These dragons were reclusive, only meting for important matters. They were respected for their intelligence and strategic thinking, and often acted as mediators in conflicts between the different races of Toriel. The council's ultimate goal was to maintain balance and order in the world, and they were revered as powerful and just leaders.

Goals

The goals of the Golden Five, an organization of powerful metallic dragons, were primarily focused on discussing and addressing the matters and concerns of the mortals living on Toriel. The council was made up of five members, one representing each of the five main types of metallic dragons: gold, silver, bronze, copper, and brass. Each member brought their own unique perspective and knowledge to the table, allowing for a wide range of ideas and solutions to be considered.   One of the main objectives of the Golden Five was to maintain balance and stability among the mortal races, ensuring that their actions did not lead to widespread destruction or chaos. They also acted as mediators and arbitrators in disputes between different mortal races, working to find peaceful solutions whenever possible.   Additionally, the Golden Five also sought to protect and preserve the natural resources and beauty of Toriel, working to prevent over-exploitation of the land and its resources. They were also deeply interested in preserving ancient knowledge and artifacts, and often sent members to explore ruins and forgotten places in search of lost treasures.   Overall, the Golden Five was a powerful and respected organization among the metallic dragons, and their actions and decisions had a significant impact on the lives of the mortals living on Toriel.

Admittance

The Golden Five is a council of five powerful metallic dragons, dedicated to discussing and making decisions on matters concerning mortals. The dragons who make up the council are chosen from among the most respected and wise members of their respective Dragon flights.   Selection process is often done through a combination of voting among other metallic dragons and a demonstration of their knowledge and understanding of the mortal races and the world at large. The final decision is made by the current members of the Golden Five, who take into account the candidate's reputation, experience and the overall balance of the council. The chosen dragons usually serve for a lifetime, or until they can no longer fulfill their duties.

History

War of the Ancients

The Golden five was founded following the start of the war of the ancients. Gathering representatives from all five metalic dragon race, the council was made up of the five most powerful and respected dragons of each metallic dragon subrace: gold, silver, bronze, copper, and brass. These dragons were chosen by their peers for their wisdom, knowledge, and leadership skills.

Nexus Overflow

Before the Nexus Overflow, the Golden Five served as mediators and peacemakers among the mortal realms, settling disputes and maintaining balance. They also acted as ambassadors between the dragons and other races, such as elves and dwarves, helping to maintain peaceful relations.   During the Nexus Overflow, the Golden Five's power was greatly diminished as Magic flowed into Toriel, shifting the balance of power among the races. Many mortals no longer saw the need for the council to mediate their affairs, believing that they were powerful enough to deal with their disputes on their own.   In the years after the Nexus Overflow, the Golden Five's influence and power waned. They continued to exist, but their role became more advisory than governing. Many dragons still looked to them for guidance and wisdom, but their decisions were not always followed.   The Golden Five's power and influence were further diminished during the Great Extinction, as the majority of living beings on Toriel were wiped out. The council struggled to maintain its relevance in the face of such devastation, and eventually faded into obscurity.

War of the White Gold

Emperor Alexander Hart of the Orrin Empire sought the help of dragons during the war of the white gold in order to win the ongoing conflict with the Kingdom of Whiteshore.   Doraka, who hears his plea, refuses to help, as it is beneath them to take a side in this conflict, only will he listen to Alexander when he advocates for peace, but Alexander is adamant in his resolution to crush the kingdom, and spend months trying to convince the dragon.   When a trio composed of Catherine Hart, Esther Olvadottir and Azaela reaches the Golden Five and Alexander, the emperor starts to change his mind, reuniting with his wife have him longing to get back home.   Alexander now reconsidering his position, agreed to seize the war. Esther does not think of herself as fit to make such a decision, yet Doraka reminds her of her duty as an heir to the throne of Whiteshore, as the recent rumors about her reached Doraka, and Esther agrees to take on the crown if it frees her brothers and ends this war.   Doraka warns Esther that she'll have to face one final trial before she can sit on the throne, as the legends of the earth demon are to be quenched before any of the involved realms can seek peace. Esther agrees to face this threat and Azalea stands by her side, as a last quest to repay her debt.   Doraka brings them to the kingdom of Whiteshore, where they face Harald Olvason, now transformed by the Dao within him into an elemental monster of earth. Esther is brought to tears as she has to fight her brother, and refuses to do so, asking Doraka to use his might against what her brother has become.   But Doraka refuses, as it is a leader's duty to protect its people in the face of danger, even when friends turn to foes.   Esther is forced to face Harald and unwilling to sacrifice Azaela she jumps to stand in between the Dao and the fairy. Saving her friend, she realizes this action had her plunging her sword into her brother's body, as he falls on his knees in front of her.   While Esther mourns the death of her brother, Doraka brings Alexander back to the empire, who reclaims his crown, and has his brother Ambroise Hart killed for treason publicly.

The Lich war

In 1574 BD, the powerful archmage Vecna achieved lichdom, setting his sights on more than just eternal life. His ambitions included gathering followers and undead forces, leading him to the elven Kingdom of Lórien. He conquered the Lorien swiftly, and used its ressources to escape to the shadowfell, where he plotted for more. However, Lireesa Windrunner, daugther of the queen of Lórien was a Sister of Selune, and thanks to vision given by Selune herself, would require three things: a magical blade infused with the soul of Vecna's lieutenant, the assistance of dragons, and a means to cross between planes alongside the warriors of the night. she requested the Golden Five help. With Lireesa Windrunner holy army marching towards Lorien, they faced countless undead forces that overpowered them. The dragons allied with Lireesa's forces turned the tide of battle, enabling them to reach the capital and the portal to Thar Amphala as they dealt with the undead force in the prime material realm.   Lireesa returned shortly after with her mother, and few of her mens but Vecna defeated, and with the dragons' help, reclamied her kingdom.

Orc War

With the death of Lireesa Windrunner, queen of the kingdom of Lorien by the hand of Gul'dan, warlock and leader of the orcish horde, Sylvanas Windrunner called upon the dragons of the Golden Five, calling upon their help to end this war and to avenge her dead mother.   But Kueli, who answered the call, refused to help a cycle of endless vengeance that would only bring war and destruction to Toriel.

Great Extinction

The golden five tried to warn the last emperor, Kalah Heigaari, that his search for power beyond death was foolish, and that playing with the creation of a philosopher stone could cause the end of his empire, yet he never listened to them.

Draco-Giant War

The Great Extinction of 1070 BD devastated many mortal races, transforming the world into a wasteland where only dragons and giants remained mostly unscathed. With giants and dragons emerging as the de facto leaders in this new world, they seized the opportunity to expand their territories and hoards, ushering in an era known to humans as the Age of Dragons.   The fragile balance between dragons and giants was shattered when a group of ravenous Hill Giants tracked wounded prey to the lair of a white dragon. Enraged that their feast had been usurped by the dragon, they attacked, managing to wound the dragon before meeting their demise at its claws.   Seeking justice, the white dragon appealed to the golden five, hoping for intervention on behalf of the giants encroaching upon its domain. However, the council dismissed the matter as a trivial squabble, further infuriating the dragon.   Incensed by the council's indifference, the white dragon took matters into its own claws, exterminating the Hill Giants' village. Upon learning of the massacre, the giants dispatched a group of Cloud Giants. They ambushed the snow-colored dragon in its slumber, swiftly ending its life.   Neighboring dragons, in retaliation, decimated the villages of giants within their respective territories. Despite attempts by the Golden Five to quell the escalating conflict, their efforts fell on deaf ears, and soon, the skirmishes escalated into a full-blown war engulfing large swathes of the continent.
