Orrin Empire. He was an apprentice to
Medivh.
History
Apprenticeship with Medivh
At the young age of 17, Khadgar was sent to apprentice under the wizard Medivh. At first, Khadgar believed Medivh to be nothing more than he appeared to be — a kindly, old, if slightly eccentric and curious wizard. After Medivh asked Khadgar everything about the Empire, Medivh ordered him to clean up the library, as he had with his previous apprentices - dozens of them, none of which lasted for more than a few days. While wandering in the tower, Khadgar found a room where he saw visions of a
Human army led by an old, long white-haired mage battling against other humans in the land of the orcs. Khadgar was surprised to see that the mage's eyes looked like his own.
Another day, as Khadgar was sorting books, Medivh returned and attacked him, thinking that Khadgar was a thief — Medivh had forgotten that Khadgar was still there. Medivh apologized and together they went atop of the tower. By touching his head, Medivh taught Khadgar how to ride a gryphon and they went to explore the southern part of the empire.
After returning to the mage's tower, Medivh left Khadgar alone in the tower. Khadgar continued studying and preparing. Medivh later returned so Khadgar could accompany him to the empire's capital.
Destined to a promising future, the young Khagar was told he would become one of the most powerful wizards of the empire during this trip to the empire's capital.
The Empire's Mage
During the
Orc War, Medivh captured an orc named
Garona Halforcen. Khadgar was, at first, furious at her presence, but the Medivh demanded Khadgar treat her with respect.
When Medivh abandonned his duty as the court wizard to raise his child, Khagar became
Arthas Hart court wizard, recognized for his talent and incredible proficiency with
Magic.
Khadgar was by Arthas' side when he had foresee the crumbling of the empire, advising him and learning leadership. Many saw in Khagar a figure of authority, someone with the wisdom of the emperor, and the power to prevent discord. Khadgar could hear the voice of those wishing for the empire to expand east, to conquer the lands that were once under the
Orc control.
When the assassin showed up at the castle and killed the emperor, Khagar rushed in an attempt to save Arthas, despite his incredible power, changing the fate of the dead was beyond his skill set. Swearing to avenge the now dead leader.
Leader of the empire
David Lionheart, the puppet master behind the assassination, used this opportunity to lead an important part of the empire's the army east. With no ruler to command them, those approving of David's view followed, and soon the empire was divided more than ever before. Khadgar, mourning the death of Arthas, and looking for vengeance heard echo of David's plans to overtake the entire empire.
Conscient of his own power and authority, Khagar arose to take on the vacant role and became the new emperor of Orrin. He ordered the forces in
Green earth to return to the empire, but the opposition was too great, and they declared themself the independent
Kingdom of Alterin. The empire spy breaking the news of the truth behind Arthas' assassination empowered the new emperor to declare war against the newly formed kingdom of Alterin. The resulting war, the
Conqueror's War, weakened both the kingdom and empire and split the populace into two groups, "royalist" and "Imperialist", labels that continued to spark fights years after the event ended.
