Gilmore Ingotborn

The Kind Ol' Blacksmith

Body Features & Mental Characteristics

Gilmore Ingotborn is, by all appearances, the typical dwarf blacksmith, although he seems to carry a little bit of overweight. His hands seem to always be covered in grease, which translates into the dwarf having multiple black grease stripes all over his face and clothes. He is a very warm and caring person who is always happy to help. A keen eye might notice a subtle sadness in his big grey eyes, which might be related to the loss of his late wife who died from illness years ago.

Personal history

As a ''wee lad'', Gilmore was brought onto a forgotten island by his parents, to work with them in an underground cult dedicated to Pelor. Gilmore spent most of his childhood learning from his father, a very talented and sought after blacksmith of Tymanther. When his dad passed away, Gilmore became the person that could work the metal in this underground cult. Not remembering what life was outside of the cavern in which he had spent most of his life, Gilmore simply sunk into a life of repetition and habits. Dreaming of one day having his own shop where he could let his creativity loose, Gilmore hammered for years the same pieces of metal, hoping he would get the opportunity to leave.     He eventually settled down with a human woman, whom he truly fell and love with, and they had a child. The kid looked a lot more like his mother than his father, but it mattered not to Gilmore. Had this kid not even been his, he would have loved him with all his hearth either way.    During the year that followed the birth, Gilmore's wife, Omelka, started exhibiting signs of a grave illness. The few healers of the cult barely tried to help her, and their ridiculously nonchalant efforts proved worthless. She died on her 39th birthday, while Gilmore was at work.   15 years passed, in which Gilmore tried to be the best father he could to his son, while still remembering his wife every single day. One day, he met someone new. Someone who did not seem to be from around the cult. He quickly became friends with this fellow named Blasta . This relationship proved to be extremely significant for the dwarf, as the day where he met Blasta was the first time he allowed himself to truly smile ever since the death of his wife. He couldn't explain why, but when he went to bed that night, he felt like this encounter was the beginning of something new for both him and his son.    During an attack led by members of the soon-to-be founded Golden Company , which Blasta was a part of, against the cult, Gilmore's son is killed, which sends the Dwarf down a well of sadness and grief. Holding on to his newly found friend, Gilmore leaves the cult with the Golden Company for the first time in almost 200 years.    In Athkatla , Gilmore is given a street-corner shop in the River District by Criella , as part of a deal with the Golden Company . He can run the shop however he wants, but needs to fulfill the orders of the Athkatla's Thieves Guild secretly, and in priority. He is also given a young orphan apprentice. This apprentice, named Tommy  will quickly grow on him and will eventually become his adopted son.    A couple of weeks after he sets up shop in Athkatla, Gilmore is given access to the impressive forge of the Castle of the Eclipse, where he spends most of his free time. He also receives what he deems to be ''the most beautiful gift of all'', the life of his son, resurrected by the Golden Company .   Months later, Gilmore starts taking care of the teenager Annabella of Melokthor , which he eventually starts treating as his own daughter.
