Unthalass
The Ancient City
Unthalass, also known as the Ancient City, once was considered the greatest city in all of the realms. It is now the most gigantic and impressive pile of rubble in all of Faerûn.

Modifications to the actual lore include: Before the Great War:The grandiose capital city of Unther becomes the centerstage of a battle of epic proportions, as the Avatar of the goddess Tiamat fights her life-long Nemesis, an ancient god whose name is now forgotten. The fight is increasingly more and more violent, and people eventually need to be evacuated, leaving the two titans in what seems to be an even-matched fight.
The combat lasts for centuries, until a demi-god named Kord steps in and tries to stop the fight between both avatars. Eventually, years into this battle between the three entities, Tiamat ends up killing the physical representation of her nemesis, and effectively strips him of his godly powers. Seeing that Tiamat was now free to roam and conquer Toril, Kord used the last of its strength to banish Tiamat back to the plane of the gods. This being his latest achievement in a long series of various exploits and prowesses, he is deemed worthy by the Council of the Gods and replaces the ancient, now forgotten, god as the new God of Strength and Storms.
To this day, the grounds on which this battle happened are considered sacred, and many seers and oracles have deemed it to be a place of ''Eternal War'', which justifies why it was never rebuilt. Multiple reports of people disappearing were eventually filed, as many visitors of the ancient battleground vanished out of thin air.
Now, few people dare approaching these hallowed ruins, except for the occasional pilgrims.
1493 after the Great War:
The Golden Company discovers, by inadvertance, that Tiamat was locked away by the means of a rare and old spell cast by Kord in its final non-god moments. The spell keeps the target of the spell in a large demiplane where it cannot escape by any means, safe of death. Any person casting any form of teleportation spell while on the grounds of the initial cast is vacuumed in the demiplane. Accidentally, the Golden Company did just that and ended up facing, with the help of a trapped and slightly mad Mordekainen. The group of adventurer faces, and ultimately slays, the trapped avatar of Tiamat, learning that it might have been okay that the goddess be trapped in there. It seems that a large part of her consciousness was locked away with her, and that it allowed the material plane to secure deals without her eye upon them. Notably, Dara and most of the ancient dragon leaders agreed to a powerful pact, locking all dragons away to save them from the dragon hunts that had grown popular a couple of centuries back. As soon as Tiamat is liberated, she destroys the enchantment with her renewed godly powers, bringing the dragons back to the material plane, to the delight of the citizens of Skalnaedyr and Djerad Thymar .
Unthalass stays a mythical place of ruins and multiple secrets, awaiting discovery.
