History
While passing through the city of Baldur's Gate, on his way home to Waterdeep after completing his first semester at Candlekeep, Jac found himself missing his coin purse. This infuriated him! He spend the next two weeks conducting an investigation until he discovered that he was robbed by a young tiefling named Crelista. When he arrived at Crelista's home (a makeshift hovel in an old abandoned building), he arrived to find her sobbing over the body of an old tiefling woman, an empty potion bottle laying beside her. "It didn't work..." she cried. Jac quickly surmised that she had stolen the gold to by a potion of some sort, in an attempt to save this woman. The woman turned out to be Crelista's mother. Inspecting the bottle, Jac's anger redirected as he realized the girl had been sold a false potion by a con artist. After assisting Crelista in a proper funeral for her mother and bringing the con artist who sold her the false potion to justice, Jac brought Crelista to Bilbin Stichensew's shop in Waterdeep, leaving her in the care of his trusted friend. "Listen to this man." Jac told Crelista. "He will teach you what you need to know to find your purpose". When Crelista grew restless working at Bilben's shop, Jac hired her as a messenger to "keep her out of trouble". Crelista scoffs at Jac's paternal concern, but always completes her deliveries and errands to the best of her ability. To Crelista, this is the best way to show respect to the man who helped put her mother to rest and avenge her death. While she still hasn't found her "purpose", she does enjoy that her job allows her to see the world, and hopes she will stumble across her place in it someday.
History
When Jac was a young orphan on the streets of Waterdeep, the young tailor Bilben Stichensew took the lad in and made him an apprentice. Jac made for a mediocre tailor at best, but he had a knack for sales and business that Bilben could not ignore. With Jac working for him, Bilben's profits (and his workload) more than tripled within a few months. When Jac became a teenager, Bilben knew that working in his little tailor's shop would never be enough to satisfy Jac's hunger for success. As such, he sponsored Jac's studies at Candlekeep to the south, where Jac studied to become a Bard. After traveling as a bard, Jac began to realize that the world was filled with lawless brutes who often used force to rule the common folk with an iron fist. Having been raised by Bilbin with a healthy respect for the law, Jac aimed to prove that there was a "more efficient" way to power than "uncivilized brute force". This eventually led Jac to adventure through the realm, spreading his message to powerful nobles. Bilben eventually became worried that Jac's recklessness would lead him to an early grave, and having a comfortable savings of gold thanks to Jac's efforts, decided he would travel along with Jac. So, Bilbin retired, sold his shop, and now travels with Jac on his adventures. He often provides a voice of reason for his young ward, as well as keeping him and his cohorts well-dressed.
History
When Jac came to Cormyr to perform his seminar for the nobles, there was a young guard who caught his attention. The young man was arrogant, often spoke of things he knew little about, and was a bit of a bully towards the other guards. This young man was Branfield. While Jac found himself particularly annoyed with Branfields antics, he admired the young man's ambition. So, when Jac found himself knighted by the Cormyrean Court, and decided to take Branfield on as his squire. Worried the boy's ego may get him killed, Jac often sends Branfield on meaningless errands to keep him occupied (and safe) when Jac undertakes more dangerous work. Still, if a threat arises and Jac thinks Branfield can handle it, he will politely step aside and give his apprentice a chance to shine.
History
When Jac heard of Tell No Tales he took a special interest in Peter. Seeing an opportunity, he paid off Peter's mortgage on Shovelslinger Farms, taking on join ownership in the process, and in turn earned the rights to two months of Peter's personal adventure log. When Peter retired from Tell No Tales, Jac jumped at the opportunity to take his place in Tell No Tales.
