Akademeia
Akademeia is a Academic Institution focusing on the development of magical and martial disciplines.
Akademeia is located upon a small island that is designated as neutral ground via treaty amongst 5 of the nations of Torr. Surrounding the main island is 5 smaller islands upon which each of the Houses reside.
Akademeia has two different organizational structures within it. On one hand, the school is structured into "Colleges" based on each magical and martial discipline. The Dean of each college is typically either a representative from an organization associated with the discipline or it is a particularly experienced and skilled practitioner of the discipline.
The other organizational structure is the 5 houses. The houses serve as the social and residential organizations within Akademeia. When a student enrolls at Akademeia, they are automatically placed into a house based on their country of origin. Each country has a house, the only exception being the Black Skull Armada. Even the Torcatl Empire, represented by the Amber Dragon house, is represented. Students from the empire are permitted attendance due to an ancient treaty signed at the time of the school's founding. To date, the school seems to be the only place the Empire considers truly neutral ground.
Graduation from Akademeia comes with a few benefits. First, graduating students are typically granted membership to an organization related to their field of study, if there is one. For example, a wizard studying Conjuration would be granted acceptance to the School of Conjuration headquartered in The Ilverian Magocracy. Second, graduating students tend to also get admittance to the more prestigious guilds in their country of origin. Graduating students typically also start with a higher rank upon joining the guild than members who join through application without training.
