The Ilverian Magocracy

The Ilverian Magocracy is a nation ruled by a council of mages elected by the people based on the mage's respective expertise in a given field. The seats in the council include seats for A White Mage, A Black Mage, A Red Mage, A Blue Mage, An Arcanist, A Sage, A Wizard, A Sorcerer, A Cleric, A Bard, A Druid, and a Warlock. There are 12 seats in total. Guilds within the Magocracy focus heavily on magic and openly discriminate against anyone who doesn't have "sufficient potential". In short, if your chosen discipline does not have a seat on the council you will likely be ostracized from Ilverian society. Each council member has the right to appoint one guild master. As a result, there are 12 guilds, each on dedicated to the discipline practiced by its overseeing council member. That said, while looked down upon, martial disciplines are still granted guild membership when they apply. However, they are subject to a rank ceiling that other more favored disciplines are not subject to.

As a nation, Ilveria focuses heavily on exploration, discovery and knowledge. They are often the first to charge into the unknown and rarely turn down the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and discover new places.

The Ilverian Magocracy is inspired by the elements of wind and water and follows the gods Llymlaen The Navigator and Thaliak The Scholar
