Hulgin’s Spire
Built by the McTarvek clan this metal and stone structure commemorated a great victory for the clan, and served as a marker on the way to Bophar.
During the fourth age Orryn Steelfist spent extended periods looking for the monument but even he was unsuccessful.
Going by drawings the spire was a narrow four sided pyramid, about 4ft wide at the base and 15ft high. A central column of stone supported a lattice of dorinium which created the pyramid shape. Within the metal lattice were lenses and crystals. According to reports from the time these would project silhouettes of scenes from the battle the spire was built to commemorate. The scenes supposedly changed depending on the angle of the sun.
As sky turns from dark to blue,
See it stand in brighter hue.
Sun shining at highest peak,
In yellow it’s tales do speak.
The drawings also show that the spire was located at the junction of 5 paths through a mountain range. This is in keeping with tales of the battle it was built to commemorate. Many outside of the McTarveks believed that the spire also marked which of the paths needed to be taken to reach Bophar.
In keeping with tradition no maps were made of the location of the spire and it's location was lost following the War of Ascension. Some attempts were made to locate the spire during the third age, but while several potential locations with five paths meeting were identified there was no sign of the monument.
As we reach the afternoon,
Red’s warm light comes none to soon.
