Personal history
Chise Midogawa was born in Setagaya-ku (a suburb outside of Tokyo in the Kanto Region of Japan) to Housho and Rei Midogawa. Chise was never the most "feminine" of the girls in her neighborhood, always preferring to work with her hands and was never afraid to get a little dirty. Her father instilled in her a passion for hard work and commitment, being one of the chief engineers and designers of hover crafts for Subaru (yes the automotive company). Her father originally wanted her to work under him at the company, but her interests were found in grander things. After graduating from high school, she first went to a trade school for work on space fairing vessels. She passed with the tops score in her program and sought out an actual engineering education when she was only 20. However, she knew she didn't want to stay on Earth, as she found her father's expectations for her to be stifling. So she traveled to Invitus Rán, where there was a university with a excellent trade for mechanical engineering and ship design. She traveled there at the age of 21, but there was just one problem... Her father refused to front her the money for the education.
She was an unknown quality, so it was hard for her to find a job in the city. She didn't have the funds to return to Earth, so to get those funds she got a simple scrap yard mechanic job. The work was hard and grueling, not to mention the low pay. She wouldn't catch a break until 4 months later, when a young up and coming racer came to the scrap yard looking for quality used parts. That racers name was Dax "Furious Dax" Blitz. He took a chance and hired her as his personal mechanic for his first run of "The Great Kessel Run Race" (named for Han Solos famous "Kessel Run" mention in original Star Wars trilogy it is Invitus Rán's most popular biennial attraction). Dax, with young Chise as his mechanic, won the race with his team. The prize for that years race being the largest it has ever been (4.5 million galactic credits [GCR]). Dax's time had nine members, they split the prize evenly, each received 500,000 GCR, Chise included. She put that money down towards her education and began going to the university in Invitus Rán.
She received recognition from the Citadel for being the mechanic who repaired Dax's ship, and she was hired by the city's dock quartermaster as a mechanic for incoming vessels with landing passes that put in repair orders. During her period of study she made friends with many of the young men in her major, all of whom treated her as just another one of the guys (most likely due to her somewhat jovial and boyish nature, although maybe they picked up on the fact that she didn't seem interested in men). They would often take her out to many of the popular spots in the city, and one day without really thinking about it they took her to The Orethea. Their she met Clöe, and despite of herself, fell madly in love. After they had spent a great deal of time together, Clöe made her an offer that she found impossible to turn down. The two of them now live together, with Chise going back to school for her Master's in Engineering.

Chise would be best described as a lesbian. However, she would also be described as a submissive personality.
Education
Chise went to a trade school to learn the ins and outs of being a mechanic for space ships. However, she had the much grander ambition of designing her own ships. So, she traveled to the University in Invitus Rán and began her studies of engineering. She has since attained he Bachelor's degree and now wants to go back for her Master's and maybe even a Doctorate.
Employment
Chise currently works as a repair mechanic at Invitus Rán's Dock District. She is considered to be one of the best mechanics in the city, and usually treats her clients quite fairly.
Accomplishments & Achievements
It was Chise's work as the mechanic who helped repair the victor's ship in the 12th Biennial Great Kessel Run Race that brought her a good deal of fame.
Failures & Embarrassments
She dislikes talking about her time working in Invitus Rán's scrap yard. For her, that 4 months of time was an embarrassing part of her past that she doesn't want to remember. She has one more embarrassment that she kept to herself until her parents met Clöe for the first time, where Chise's mother informed her of the time that she [Chise] confessed wanting to marry her childhood crush. Chise doesn't usually mind being embarrassed, but the fact that her mother told Clöe something like that made her want to crawl into a corner of the house and start pity party.
Intellectual Characteristics
Chise is very intelligent, not to mention insanely curious about everything mechanical. She loves taking apart things to understand how they function and gets incredibly excited about her discoveries and creations.
