Expedition
A dangerous expedition on the shores of Mortoram.
Orchestrated by one of the most influential councillors in the court of the Atoras Dynasty, a secret expedition was sent to Mortoram to recover dragon eggs. The purpose and success of these have been kept secret from the general population, but some records have been kept in the libraries of Byzanton.
The Atoras emperor at the time wanted to get dragon eggs to reinforce their legitimacy if it was ever called into doubt. Mercenaries from different lands formed two groups, one of which is well documented. The expedition began with two ships, the Aetheria and the Catella. Aetheria ventured into the Golden Bay, while Catella sailed further South until it found signs of civilization. The mercenaries dismounted the ship at the mouth of a river and headed inland. After facing some difficulties with dangerous wildlife, they were harassed by lizardfolk. Despite the hardships, the group reached ruins of an abandoned ziggurat, which still had some traps built into it. On the top, it had a golden dragon egg.
Removing the egg seemed to have some kind of effect on the local fauna as hordes of lizardfolk as well as a gigantic lizard emerged from the surrounding forest, attempting to kill the party. A member was quickly eaten by the giant beast and a fatally Scovonian warrior almost fell to the same fate, but was able to deliver a killing blow to the creature before being saved by her comrades. The survivors narrowly escaped the onslaught and fought themselves back to their boat which they used to return to the ship.
The Catella then met up with the Aetheria, which also recovered a dragon egg in an elf port. The two ships then headed back towards Scovony, but before they reached safety, they found themselves in a storm, where a Sea Monk dragged one of the ships beneath the waves. A recovery mission was sent, but wether it was a success or not remains unknown. What is known is that Catella unloaded one piece of cargo upon reaching The Continent.
