Long Path to the Throne

Many recognize the beauty and grace of a ruler in Aotsuki Tsukamoto, but few know the truth: That the young Daimyō is descended from the imperial line and shares blood with Amaterasu herself. Aotsuki has the support of some in the Imperial Court, but he cannot simply walk in and claim the throne of Japan. It is said, after all, that the current Emperor still lives, even though he has not made a public appearance for many years. Indeed, the Ashikaga Shogunate is the most vocal proponent of this assertion. If the Imperial Court is crippled by an absent ruler, after all, then the majority of the country's central power falls to the Shogunate. Perhaps an inability to deal with that power is part of what led to the turbulent times we live in...   Regardless, Aotsuki is aware of the thing resembling a destiny which he carries. His own Sheele, Tsurugi's unshakeable certainty that Aotsuki is the true Emperor speaks enough to that. The question, then, is what manner of action or process would allow him to ascend to that rank, and would Aotsuki truly be ready for such a responsibility?
