The Melancholy of Toyotomi Hideyoshi

Former general Toyotomi Hideyoshi has enjoyed an explosive rise in popularity, followed by an equally-brutal downward fall. First a general of the Oda, he briefly split off at the urging of the Ashikaga Shogunate to form his own Toyotomi Clan. This led to a miserable defeat, but Hideyoshi found forgiveness in Oda Nobunaga, only to wind up working for the Tokugawa as man-slave to a seductress. Now, he's been captured by Aotsuki Tsukamoto after being found passed out in a latrine, covered in tattoos.   Aotsuki is known to be merciful, but can he forgive Hideyoshi's scummy, womanizing ways? He cannot, and has ordered the erstwhile Daimyō to be exiled from the country. And yet, he seems to have fallen in with a cook at the Yakisoba Yashiki, Sugihara Yoshiko, and even Matsunaga Hisahide seems to be brokering for his release for unknown reasons. Incorrigible bastard though he is, Hideyoshi yet seems to be at the center of a web of connections in Japan . Will Aotsuki truly succeed in tearing him away so easily?
