Many words can describe the man called Matsunaga Hisahide. Gorgeous is one, conniving and deceitful are two others. This self-styled "problem-solver" and "Daimyō of the Matsunaga Clan" (despite holding no land) yet remains quite a mystery. He has connections in most every clan, including the Hashinara, the Black Ocean Society, and the Shogunate itself, yet deals only in favors. Perhaps this explains how his title has never been officially challenged.   The things Hisahide asks in return are often as esoteric as the requests which come his way. Even so, some of them are suggestive in their own manner. The fact, for example, that he wishes for Toyotomi Hideyoshi to earn a pardon; or that he almost certainly knows something about the First Death of Hashinara Katamoto...
