Lesser Dragon

"The Lesser Dragons are several subspecies or races of dragons that do show significantly intelligence, maybe on the level of a young human or a very clever dog. Besides that, they are also much smaller than the Higher Dragons and are not capable of active magic use.

All this and, of course, the statements from Higher Dragons suggest that the relation between the Higher and the Lesser Dragons is distant at best."

Basic Information

Anatomy

Basically, a lesser dragon is a smaller version of one of the Higher Dragons.
It is currently unknown if the various species of those dragons are related, some have, however, speculated that the lesser dragons are just a dwarfism form of the regular species or the bigger ones are a form of gigantism. The reported differences in intelligence strongly suggest that the relationship between those groups is not a close one.

Scientific Name
Draco draconis
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

"There is no such thing as a colour classification of the Higher Dragons. Which is interesting as the much smaller cousins the Dragolings have a very specific colouration based on gender and physical properties.
It looks however as if the relationship is truly as distant as the old records claim for neither the Higher Dragons nor the Lesser Dragons show any kind of consistency in the colouring.
In fact, it appears as if the marking and colouring of both groups of Dragons follows the same rules and patterns that have been found to be true for cats, dogs and cows..."
