Mauni
A species of humanoid felidae. The mauni are a graceful and slender race. And if one were to pull comparisons to the felidae of the animal kingdom it could be said that the mauni are likely descended from cheetah, clouded leopard, pum or caracal. At least they look very much like bigger, walking and talking versions of those cats. In general their facal features do not have the extended jaws of many other felidae of the pantherinae family.
The main difference is that the mauni are significantly better adapted to upright, two-legged movement. This comes with several adaptations of their skeleton regarding young-bearing and birth.
Also, their front paws are much more in line with primate hands in that their fingers are elongated and they possess an opposed thump forming a "hand". The claws are no longer retractable at the arm paws but still are at the leg's paws.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Of all the various "catpeople" the mauni are probably best adapted to upright and bipedal walking. This results in them being significantly faster walkers and runners that other felidaewho are of similar size like the Leonir. The Alael are significantly lighter and smaller and thus are outclased in this area anyway.
Ecology and Habitats
Mauni are very adaptable and various ethinicities can be found all over Turian.
They tend to form civilized comunities and have been the major species of several nations over the milenia.
Currently they make up over half of the population of the Alteron Protectorate and constitute for significant minorities in the Hojan Confederation and the Suleri Empire.
