Naiad

Naiads are the sentient bodies of water that live in the Great Forest. They generally run around in Human, or Humanish form, but do like to play as their water forms when around other pools of water, such as the multiple rivers that run through the Great Forest.

When sitting in their birth bodies of water, Naiads absorb nutrients from the water and associated soil beneath it, both physical and magical.

Like Dryads, Naiads live with a single parent from their birth, though they often end up living with the group that live in the same river or other body of water. It is rare to have a saltwater Naiad as their bodies much prefer freshwater. Though there has been a couple through Turien's history. From the pool of water they were born in, a Naiad is able to magically mimic and of the flora that grows inside that body of water. If a water hyacinth grows in that body of water, then a Naiad born there may transform those petals at will.

Deep vs Shallows: In a Magic War of old, Naiads from the Deep did not participate, while those from the Shallows did. No other race cared further than that Naiads were in the war, but to the Naiads, this caused a great division. Thus, now they are as separate as two family members can be while living in the same house, if the house has been stretched for hundreds of kilometres. The youngest generations are basically strangers now.

Knowledge

Although all Nymphs teach their children through stories and oral traditions, Naiads' stories are known to be unreliable, as they will often change a character or setting for no substantial reason reason other than they 'felt like it', 'don't like Elves today' or 'this would be cooler'. Everything they teach is via stories.
