Outer Rim Territories

The Outer Rim Territories is a sparsely populated region of the galaxy located outside the Mid Rim Territories before Wild Space and the Unknown Regions. The largest region in the galaxy, it is home to diverse worlds and rugged, primitive frontier planets.
Inequalities between the richer Core Worlds and the poorer Outer Rim Territories have set the stage for resentments that fed several conflicts through the history of the galaxy, including the Clone Wars and the current opposition to the Galactic Empire.
