The Oracle of Anathema, or the Speaker of Zasz, is Ishiza. She functions as the face of the Yuan-Ti Empire and the de facto head of state due to Zasz's isolation. She is able to interpret the Adamant Scriptures, or the writings on the side of the Adamant Obelisk, and convert them into scripture, teachings, and directives.
Born from two human parents as the daughter of trading caravan salespeople, Ishiza learned at an early age to speak, trade and barter in many languages. In her teens, her mother began to fall ill to cancer, so she began searching across Tyras for a doctor. Though she found several that could have treated her mother, she was unable to secure the necessary funds to treat her before her death. Enraged, Ishiza traveled to The Red Sands in order to commit suicide, however was stopped by Yuan-Ti Diviners before she was able to complete her goal. After being forcibly given mental health services, Ishiza began to remake her life in the Yuan-Ti Empire, championing universal healthcare access. Using her speechcraft, she eventually worked her way up to becoming the Oracle of Anathema. Ishiza has an attractive speech cadence when she chooses to speak without telepathy and she is affectionately nicknamed Ishiza of the Silver-Tongue for her prose and artful expression of words.
