The Underlake

The Underlake refers to the aquatic biomes of Lakes Ganymede and Trost, whose denizens built the cities of Il'Drathune and Il'Arbor at the crushing depths of 10000 and 8000 meters respectively. Due to its size, Lake Ganymede effectively functions as a sea, often refered to as the Ganymedean Sea. The lack of natural light that penetrates the lakebed has given rise to unique local adaptations, leading to the widespread use of bioluminescence. The Underlake boasts an array of awe-inspiring natural features such as massive canyon trenches and underwater mountain ranges. Sections of the frigid deep sea stay warm due to the presence of hydrothermal vents. The region teems with diverse sealife, including rare and almost alien sea creatures that visit from the Krakena Ocean through the various cavern systems that connect the bodies of water.
