Unveiled

After The Unravelling, Àlfs, Fey Folk and Changelings found themselves in a world where they were considered confusing, unwanted and - in some cases - downright frightening.
As many Fey Folk are afraid of the new world, they tend to try to remain unseen. Most Alfs try to stick to their own, but a large number - especially Changelings - choose to fight for their right to live out in the open, unglamoured and open about their true nature. These are referred to as the Unveiled.
Some Fey Folk might opt to find ways to cover themselves in a glamour, concealing their true nature, others might hide from larger society, living a private life or invisibly as a Hidden one, but many might not have the powers or contacts to hide away, forced to remain revealed - the Unveiling was not their choice, but being Unveiled is about more than just having been revealed - It's about owning it.
In that regard Unveiled can be seen as a subculture or maybe a movement within Fey and Human society.

Naming Traditions

Family names

While most changelings have lost their lost name as they lost their human "parents", and most Fey don't have last names at all, for registration purposes most are surnamed for the Fey Grove in which they are settled.
Upon becoming Unveiled some go futher and pick a last name for themselves befitting their Fey heritage or inspired by Fey representation in human literature to emphasize their otherworldly nature.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

While most speak their native tongue, some lesser groups are starting to practice the Elven language of Tolkien.

Shared customary codes and values

The goal of being an accepted part of Our World, equal to humans legally and socially.

Common Dress code

While there exist several subculture branches within the Unveiled community with their own distinct dress codes, the main focus of dressing 'Unveiled' is emphasizing on the details that make them stand out as 'otherworldly'
To some that means dressing in thin simple dresses to appear like old folk tale depictions of Fey and spirits.
Some adapt a more sprawling style of flower and leaf focused clothes.
Others still go for more modern looks, trying to appear as human and carefree in their style, while still keeping focus on their Fey heritage like the pointy ears and otherworldly skin colors - Dressing in a way that draws attention to wings and tails etc.
A popular trend among the wingless is getting tattoos of fairy wings.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

The Unveiled are often seen making themselves noticed at sit-ins and public gatherings, making sure to be a part of city life.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

The natural focus lies in representing their fae heritage with pride, by bringing attention to what distinct them from human kind:
Never letting hair cover pointed ears.
Showing more skin, if your skin has a distinct hue away from the human spectrum (or if covered in fur).
Dressing in a way that draws attention to wings and tails etc.
A popular trend among the wingless is getting tattoos of fairy wings.

Gender Ideals

Inspired by drawings of folktale creatures and depictions in cinema, many Unveiled women opt for simple wavy dresses or flowery designs.
"Being Unveiled is a lifestyle - a choice to not cower in fear of living in the only world we are a part of."
