Fetr'andt Delta

Delta at the mouth of the Great Father, known for it's many wealthy and cultured cities. The region is considered a cradle of civilization.   The region was conquered by the Kanflu Empire when it defeated a confederation of most of the city states in the region. After the conquest most of the delta region was incorporated into the Province of Fetr'andt. The territory south and west of the Great Father were given to the city-state of Lavnil, the only town which side with the empire.

Important locations

Wijt
According to legend, this was the birthplace of civilization - the first city. Wijt is the cultural heart of the delta region and has a prestige that even its most bitter rivals are forced to respect. While it used to be an important trading center, its wealth has declined in recent years due to a silting up of the harbor. Many of its most prominent merchants have set up their warehouses across the island in Ne'ijt.   Wijt was a leading spirit of the Delta Confederation created to oppose the encroaching Kanflu Empire. After the conquest, the Kanflunian governor of the new Fetr'andt Province chose to establish himself at Wijt.
Lavnil
A relative newcomer compared to its historied neighbors, Lavnil has risen to be the most important city in the delta region. The city is a dynamic center of trade that knows how to play its political cards and is willing to take bold action. Less tied to tradition than other delta towns, it has the reputation as the most happening place in the region.   Lavnil chose to ally with the conquering Kanflu against all of its delta neighbors. Because of this it was not amalgamated into the new Fetr'andt province but instead was permitted to preserve its independence as a semi-autonomous state within the Empire.   The citadel is built atop the Lavnil Heights, a short bluff overlooking the river. This is the highest point in the low-lying delta region.
T'omba
Situated at the mouth of the eastern branch of the Great Father, T'omba is one of the oldest cities in the region and the historic rival of Wijt. In addition to being an important commercial center, the city is also an important manufacturing location, particularly for luxury textiles.   T'omba joined the Delta Confederation to oppose the Kanflu Empire. After losing the war, the city became part of the new Province of Fetr'andt.
Fijkil Sands
Notorious as the final resting place of many a stout ship, the Fijkil Sands are a series of treacherous sandbanks located on some of the most valuable shipping lanes near the mouth of the Great Father. Sailors never pass this place without saying a prayer.   Some adventurous spirits have attempted to search for treasure among the wrecks at low tide. Most have payed for their recklessness with their lives.
Fetr'ist
Small village located on the Great Father, it is considered the upstream boundary of the delta region. As such, it has a symbolic significance that far outstrips the town's economic or strategic importance. The treaty concluding the First Fetr'andt-Kanflu War was signed here.

Geography

The delta region is formed by three main branches of the Great Father. These create two large islands and a smaller one.   The region mostly consists of fertile plains. The smaller Fijkil island is swampy with treacherous sandbanks offshore, most notoriously the Fijkil Sands. The highest point in this low-lying region are the Lavnil Bluffs, site of the city-state of Lavnil.

Fauna & Flora

The delta is home to many species of waterfowl, particularly in the brackish marshes of Fijkil Island and Minrik Island.
