T'omba

Situated at the mouth of the eastern branch of the Great Father , T'omba is one of the oldest cities in the region and the historic rival of Wijt . In addition to being an important commercial center, the city is also an important manufacturing location, particularly for luxury textiles and the famed "T'omba Blue " dye. T'omba joined the Delta Confederation to oppose the expansion of the Kanflu Empire. After losing the war, the city became part of the new Province of Fetr'andt .

Industry & Trade

T'omba is famed as the producer of luxury textiles. In particular "T'omba Blue", a rich blue dye made from the flowers of the safyan plant endemic to the region. Also known as the "king of textiles", this cloth has strong connotations of wealth, power, and culture.

Geography

The town is located near the mouth of the eastern-most branch of the Great Father, on the mainland. This is a transition zone between several biomes, giving the area an exceptional biodiversity. Across the river lies the low-lying island of Minrik, with its saltwater marshes. The river itself is tidal at this point. The mainland immediately arouond the city is flat, gently sloping up to the Batn'yu hills.

Natural Resources

Lying at the confluence of several biomes, T'omba is blessed with access to exceptional biodiversity as well as natural resources not usually available to cities in the delta region.   The safya flower, used to make the famed "T'omba Blue" dye, grows almost exclusively on Minrik island. The island is also home to great seasonal flocks of migratory waterfowl.   Another important ingredient in making "T'omba Blue" is the metal copper which is mined in the Batn'yu hills. Stone occasionally quarried here but the great cost of land transport back to the city means it is little used.
