The Fabricators
The premier organisation for the creation of magical items and the sourcing of materials and reagents.
The Fabricators are found throughout civilised lands and are the largest trade guild specialising in magical items and materials. They can be found in most major towns offering several services. While they don't offer as many contracts as other guilds, adventurers may be tasked with collecting particularly rare and valuable crafting materials. The Fabricators guild offers the following services:
- Identification - the guild will cheaply identify magical items but may demand quarantining for items that may be cursed.
- Shopping - the guild sells magical items and materials and can usually source any items of up to rare quality.
- Crafting - the main service the guild provides is crafting magical items. This often takes an extended period of time and may be expensive.
- Workshops - people in good standing with the guild may be able to use the facilities for their own purposes.
While the guild operates across several countries and locations, the largest operation is found within the halls of the undermountain city of Thorm.
Structure
The guild has a fairly chaotic structure as members are often working on their own projects and creations. It may not always appear that there is a direct hierarchy from the outside but the guild is a meritocracy that rewards achievement.
- Overseer - The overseer runs a guildhouse and manages other workers.
- Foreman - The foreman manages the workshops within a guildhouse.
- Arcanist - An arcanist is a guildmember who completes the enchanting of new magic items. They may also identify items for customers.
- Liason - Staff members of the guild expected to interact with customers. They bargain for services and sell products.
- Guards - Each guildhouse has a contingent of guards, usually around a dozen. This is mainly a visual deterrent - there are far more serious defenses involved behind the scenes.
- Assistant - Assistants complete jobs in various disciplines for the guild. They usually specialise in one job, such as running the forges.
