Yym (Yihm)

Often derisively called the "largest city of bumpkins," this central hub and capital of Tambuxia is within reach of the Breadbasket and touches almost every major region of Evoria. There are no laws governing the personal armaments of its citizens and travelers. Guards patrol the city lackadaisically. It is quite curious the juxtaposition between the town guards and the highly-elite Vergarian Guard that protect the throne.   The city supports Manaron, and has served as a bulwark against any non-Gilaxsten government.

Underneath the city the sewage and storm drains rush through clever magic into a vast hole where dwell families of otyughs to feast on the offal of the citizens above.

Districts

There are two Commercial districts for trading and dining.
The Utility District houses most of the infrastructure such as charity halls, postage, etc.
The Aristro District is home to the largest houses.
Merchant Class district prefer large homes, but not as lavish as the Aristro District. Home to some wealthy shops as well.
Mage Fairway houses the Ylter Tower, the college of Conjuration.
Yym Keep is the home of the Viscount and Viscountess, and serves as the last, formidable keep.
The slums sit in a small depression south of the keep.
The central Plaza District is home to the large fountain at the center of the town and shops on the fringes.

Guilds and Factions

The Knot (defunct Owlers) are the thieves' guild from Dalth'it that branched south. Influential and cunning.

History

Started by Lorrents Calambry at the end of the Third Era. It was a simple farmstead on a cliff for safety. This safety and fertility caught the eye of others, particularly those out of work from the boom of Breadbasket, just then making its claim as the fertile basin it is today. The influx of people to Breadbasket caused the overspill to head south to "a fertile plain." This was meant to be East Heath, however many people saw the strength of the cliffs and thought it better to settle on the little plateau.   Yym earned its name from the several families that came from Breadbasket with a special recipe for bread called yymer. The recipe has since disappeared but the name stuck on the lips of the citizens. As the city grew the name for its delicious, unique bread became its name.   Yym enjoyed many successes in the following centuries, and with the fertile fields and swelling population came rivalry and war. Never once was Yym conquered. Through the guile of its defenders and the architecture of their walls and the grace of their patron deity Chauntea.

Points of interest

The Ylter Tower rises starkly against the sky, almost taller than Yym Keep. The Keep itself stretches an impressive 200 feet high, solid and brutal in design, a veritable fortress.
The Spire of Chauntea is the pinnacle of the church to Chauntea in the Utilities District.
Both Yym and Ridgegate have their slums sitting in a depression.
The plaza district is very interesting as a traveler there may catch glimpses of these notable structures on a clear day.

There are not many tourists to Yym. It does provide many pleasures, but not
