Session 2: The River Rhynn

General Summary

Summary: On a quest to free the spirits trapped within the soul crystal, the group expands and ventures south to unravel the mystery within.
With the zombies and skeletons returned to the grave, the group finally captured Siegurt of Scabberdale for questioning. Interrogation revealed that he had received messages magically encrypted by an enchanter in Briarwood, Fal-Shavvah.
During the interrogation, another group arrived at the scene. Denisonvona and Enrique Salazar, revealed to be employed by Siegurt, drop their allegiance to the wizard after discovering the nature of his experimentation within the cave.
While the newly formed group planned their next moves, Siegurt took advantage of the distraction and escaped from his bindings. Before he could cast a spell, his hand was cut off by Ian Taggart. Standing in shock, Siegurt was promptly melted by Enrique’s acid breath.
While looting the cave, the group stumbled on one of the magically encrypted letters. Meant to look like a grocery list, the parchment’s contents were hidden by a spell.
The group proceeded to Scabberdale in search of passage to Briarwood. While in town, Enrique took over ownership of Señor Salazar's, formerly Sigurt's Spellcraft, converting it into a barbacoa stand.
Always the entrepreneur, Enrique immediately forged a partnership with The Mannered Bear, the village’s only tavern. There they met Billiam Sea-Crester, who was coerced by Keerla Roween into chartering the party down the River Rhynn.
Shortly after setting off, the group was attacked by riverboat raiders. Nearly cleaved in twain by an Orcish greataxe, Ian was saved by the nautical prowess of Brunk of Briarwood, who breached from the water, decapitating the final Orc.
The damage sustained by Billiam’s boat proved terminal, forcing the party to continue toward Briarwood in an Orcish raiding sloop, dubbed the Hamilton, as they licked their wounds.
