Canterbriand

The volcano consists of one stratovolcano with a summit caldera, and is constructed within a field of smaller centers and a larger caldera. Together with Mount Niaboro and Dark Summit it forms a southwest-northeast alignment of volcanoes. The volcano contains in total two nested calderas, the larger of which is 4 miles by 6 miles wide, and a field of lava domes and pyroclastic cones that occupy a surface of 150 square miles. A number of eruption products show ice-lava interactions. Canterbriand has erupted pyroclastics, which have formed flow and pumice deposits north of the volcano. Explosive activity has a recurrence interval of about 1,200 days, with the next eruption imminent.
