Mab (MAYV)
Mab (also spelled Medb, Meadhbh, Méibh, Méabh, and Maeve) is the Goddess of Air & Darkness. She embodied the harsher side of nature, cold and deadly but beautiful winters, and the inevitable death of everything before spring. She was worshiped by many fey of chaotic alignments, including drow, brambles, quicklings, and spriggans. She was also known to have a fondness for yeth hounds and hell hounds.
Mab had few warlocks, but no clerics. She was the ruler of the Unseelie Court.
All that was certain was that she fiercely loved the fey under her domain, and hated those who abandoned her cool embrace. The Queen of Air & Darkness did not take kindly to those that deserted her court.
Appearance
Takes the form of a drow of incredible beauty, but at the same time terrifying. Her skin was a deep, dark and rich purple, and her hair shimmered with all the colors of winter itself. Her eyes were an intense and cold blue like that of glaciers. But she rarely took physical form, preferring to remain as a strong magical presence.Personality
Mab is especially hard to read since she mainly takes the form of a strong magical presence. When she is enraged, a room is weighed down as if gravity has increased ten fold. When she was pleased, one would be caressed with a cool breeze.All that was certain was that she fiercely loved the fey under her domain, and hated those who abandoned her cool embrace. - Darkest Night: A festival celebrated by some of the world. It's celebration is particularly prevalent in the Underdark. It marks 4 days of when both of Valloth's moons are gone from view (new moon phase), which only happens once a year. During this time, the veil between the Feydark and the Material Plane is at its thinnest, and crossing over between these realms occur far more easily, and more frequently. This 4 day period is marked by various festivals that either welcome Feydark's denizens presence, or attempts to deter them, depending on culture and region.
- Winter Solstice: This marks the shortest day and longest night of the year, when the sun is at its lowest arc in the sky. Also marks the beginning of winter. Since prehistory, the winter solstice has been a significant time of year in many cultures and has been marked by festivals and rituals related to symbolic death and rebirth of the Sun. Often referred to as Midwinter. The fey celebrate this as the birth of Mab.
